Position Summary:
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-Hour General Industry Outreach Training program is intended to provide entry level general industry workers information about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint as well as how to identify, abate, avoid and prevent job related hazards on a job site. The training covers a variety of general industry safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter. Training should emphasize hazards identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards.
Job Duties:
- Teach assigned classes in keeping with approved OSHA approved and published Requirements and Procedures for the 10-Hour General Industry training topics.
- Maintain accurate student accounting records in compliance with COM and OSHA Outreach Training Program requirements. Submit and provide COM copies of Outreach Instructor reports and 10 Hour Training cards issued by the OSHA Education Center for satisfactory completion of training. Develop training modules to meet OSHA Outreach 10 Hour General Industry Procedures Manual content requirements and submit to COM CE Department for review and approval 15 days in advance of the scheduled training. Develop, print and provide handouts to students to meet requirements of the OSHA Outreach Training Requirements and Procedures Manuals. Provide items for hands on demonstration of safety principles when feasible.
- Provide counsel/guidance to students when there is a need.
Minimum Education/Training/Experience:
- OSHA Outreach Authorized Instructor credential - 5 years of general industry safety experience
Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
- Degree in occupational safety and health - Safety Related Professional Certification: Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
